Psychopathy refers to a mental disorder which is characterized by displaying unethical and unsociable behavior by an individual, inability to love or establish consequential personal relationships, utmost egocentricity and failure to learn from experience. Psychopathy may have some impacts on my functioning with respect to age, gender and cultural beliefs.

Suffering from emotional poverty may constitute one of the impacts psychopathy has on individual functioning, as asserted by Hare. Studies about psychopathy reveal that psychopathic traits make one experience rage, anger, suspicion and even a high irritability. Despite the lack of empathy, psychopathic traits can make me use socially relevant information to exploit the people around me. Such assumption is supported by research findings indicating that most psychopaths have perceptions about others' emotions, motivation and aspirations. At the early stages of my development, I was likely to be affected by a variety of behaviors such as lying, bullying, glue-sniffing and running away from home.

In a society, the traits involved with psychopathy make one frequently break existing rules, commit various crimes and even risk social safety for the benefit of cheap thrills. Thus, possessing psychopathic traits is likely to affect my behavior in the social set up. Just as culture gives the definition of what is considered as a normal behavior in a social set up, so does it particularize what is interpreted as anomalous behavior. The role of culture in defining abnormal behavior is indicated by Keller, Poortinga, Scholmerich. They demonstrated how biology and culture are used for survival. With ethnicity as one of the major factors to be considered, psychopathic traits are likely to subject me into difficulties associated with ethnic differences linked to fear and anxiety. Psychopathy will also reduce my social beliefs including relational and familial issues.

In conclusion, psychopathy is a very broad field given that there is not an adequate description of it. Although various schools of thought have been put out to try to explain psychopathy, it is has no boundary because in the modern world, various personal traits are being developed every single day. An assessment of psychopathy on grounds of interrelated personality and behavioral characteristics rather than an official diagnosis, makes the predictive value of psychopathy remain investigated.
