Leadership can be viewed differently depending on its attributes and roles. In the medical establishment, for instance, governance entails organizing the necessary resources as well as setting right directions and promoting visions to ensure that quality healthcare service provision is achieved. Some governing models are significant for me since they help in the acquisition of valuable skills which can go a long way in practical application. One encounter with powerful leadership influence was at the high school when I worked as a community activist. The team leader was a stern and outspoken man who always insisted on perfection of service delivery. He would always call me aside to explain the challenges of leadership and make me acquire necessary traits to overcome any obstacles. One such feature was analytical skills. In this way, he became my role model and changed my view of leadership.

I also had a chance of interacting with a weak leader. Once, during my summer holidays, I set to work in one of the urban hospitals as an administrative assistant. At that time I worked under a lazy executive officer. He could not accomplish the ultimate objectives within the established timelines. He always assigned the duties to junior officers in the department. This undesirable leadership trait enhanced my understanding of the leader I would never like to be.

I possess different leadership qualities with regards to my DISC profile. One of these features is visionary thinking. As any leader, I prefer taking clear directions for what I think an organization under my care would better obtain. These achievements should include both short- and long-term goals. The challenge of visionary management is mainly caused by the team that does not support its leader. For instance, I may wish a healthcare organization to achieve the highest quality health care delivery while other team members are opposed to the idea. For this reason, consultative forums are created to share the anticipated outcomes to overcome this problem.

Strategic planning is another leadership quality I possess. I prefer this element of resource management since it enables great leaders to predict, with some accuracy, the future organizational environment. It also allows administration to allocate resources only to fast progress in order to achieve the desirable goals. It is beneficial for the survival of the organization. The major weakness of this leadership model, however, is the misplaced priorities.

In conclusion, the leadership examples mentioned above and the strengths I possess are helpful for me to become an outstanding leader in any healthcare organization. The qualities of a good leader have their own challenges which effective leadership should be addressed to. For instance, visionary thinking and strategic planning are traits that can help me in steering any organization, especially healthcare institution, and in providing the best healthcare services. They are also helpful in situational analysis in cases where challenges arise under my leadership.
